The Ordinary Retinol 0.2% in Squalane is the beginner strength of The Ordinary's retinol range — the right place to start if you have never used retinol or have sensitive skin. Pure retinol in a base of plant-derived squalane targets the look of fine lines, uneven texture and post-blemish marks with far less dryness than water-based retinol.

Frequently asked questions
0.2%, 0.5% or 1% — which retinol should I buy?
Start at 0.2%. After 2–3 months with no irritation, move to 0.5%, then 1%. Jumping straight to 1% is the most common cause of retinol irritation.
Retinol in Squalane vs Granactive Retinoid Emulsion?
Retinol is stronger but can irritate; the Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion is gentler and lighter for oily skin.
Is it suitable for blemish-prone skin?
Yes — retinol can help with the look of blemishes. Expect possible purging for the first 2–4 weeks.
